I created Thanks Human as a school project to explore the effects of human behavior on nature, particularly focusing on fashion waste and pollution. It showcases animals adapting to their changing environments. Through this project, I wanted to encourage people to think about the environmental impact of the fashion industry and consider making more sustainable choices.

“I am a penguin. Thank you, Human, I’m finally warm and cozy!” Penguins once thrived in their icy homes, but due to climate change, their environment is disappearing. Now, fashion waste like down jackets is their only source of warmth as they adapt to a rapidly changing world. These penguins serve as a reminder of how human actions are reshaping nature.

“I am a clownfish. Thank you, Human, I can live in a colorful world again!” Clownfish once swam freely in vibrant coral reefs, but pollution has turned their habitat toxic. As humans continue to dump unprocessed waste into the ocean, even clownfish must adapt by wearing face masks to survive in waters no longer able to support life as it once did.

“I am a sea turtle. Thank you, Human, I can finally fit into my favorite skirt!” Sea turtles, once graceful creatures gliding through the ocean, now find themselves tangled in fabric waste, such as discarded clothing, due to increasing pollution. This sea turtle struggles with the impact of human waste, telling the story of how even the smallest details of their lives are affected by our habits.

“I am a snow fox. Thank you, Human, do I look luxurious to you?” Snow foxes, once hunted for their fur, now roam in a world where discarded fashion items, like old fur coats, are left behind. This stark irony highlights the disconnect between the human obsession with luxury and the real consequences of our actions on wildlife.
